Accident and possible arson on I-295 in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Authorities are investigating an accident and possible case of arson reported along I-295 in Fayetteville early Sunday morning.

Sheriff's deputies had to block off part of the highway near the River Road ramp.

Authorities say a car along the side of the road was reportedly on fire, when some folks in another vehicle tried to stop and help. That's when the crash occurred.

There's no word yet on the victim's name or condition.

Deputies believe the car set on fire was stolen.
