Bicyclist seriously hurt after being hit by car near Duke University

DURHAM (WTVD) -- A bicyclist is in the hospital with serious injuries after colliding with a car near Duke University.

Durham police said 52-year-old Larry Winberry was pedaling east on Duke University Road around 5:45 p.m. Saturday when he was hit by a Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by 84-year-old Ernest Lipscomb of Durham.

Lipscomb was turning left from Duke University Road onto southbound Chapel Hill Road when the accident happened.

There's no word yet on whether charges will be filed.
