Cary police search for home invasion suspect
Cary police are searching for a man who forced his way into someone's home and robbed them at knife-point.

CARY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Cary police are looking for a man who robbed a woman, her adult son, and her grandchild at knife-point after he forced his way inside their home in the Stone Water subdivision.

Capt. Randall Rhyne told ABC11 that around 1:55 p.m. Monday, a man knocked on the door of a home in the 200 block of Windy Peak Loop. When the woman answered the door, the man apparently forced himself inside.

"My mom opened the door he pushed my mom to the, to the ground and with the knife and threatened us to get all of the money to him," said the 911 caller.

When ABC11 visited the address to find out more, a woman inside the home was so shaken up she would only speak through the window yelling, "I can't talk about what happened [Monday]. I'm not opening the door anymore."

Rhyne says no one was injured, but the robber got away with some of the family's money.

The caller -- the woman's grown son -- says that at knife-point he gave the robber $160 and the man left.

The suspect is described as a six feet tall black man with an athletic build, and believed to be in his 20s or 30s. He was last seen wearing camouflage shorts, a black shirt and a black hat.

Investigators say it's unusual for this type of crime to happen during the day.

"After something like that happens this is probably the safest place to be because the police are circling around here all the time. And I doubt the guy will ever come back here. He might go somewhere but not back here," said neighbor Howard Wilcox.

Cary police say this was the only incident in that area Monday, and that they don't believe it's connected to any others.
