Preston Village residents called for a neighborhood watch after reports of recent break-ins.

CARY, N.C. (WTVD) -- A security alert due to recent break-ins in Cary prompted the Preston Village Community Board to hold an emergency meeting on Sunday.

The meeting took place at 2 p.m. for Preston Village and the entire Davis Drive corridor.

The Board created a Neighborhood Watch Committee that called for the participation of all Preston Village residents.

The neighborhood listened to Captain Randall Ryhne from the Cary Police Department's investigative team about their plans to heighten security in the area.

Captain Ryhne said there has already been several arrests made in connection with the recent break-ins. He also said over 20 warrants have been issued and a large amount of the stolen goods have been recovered.

Authorities are adding off-duty patrols to supplement the regular Cary Police presence. They are also discussing installing security cameras.

Anyone with information on the recent break-ins is advised to call the Cary PD at (919) 469-4012.
