Caught on video: Inmate escape

PAYETTE, Idaho (WTVD) -- An inmate is on the run after escaping from an Idaho jail, and the entire act was caught on camera.

Police said Nicholas Grove scaled a razor wire fence before bolting to freedom.

Officials said a detention deputy was only about 50 feet away when Grove made his move. However, he was so fast that he still got away.

Grove was cut by the wire as he climbed, but it wasn't clear how seriously he was hurt. A manhunt was underway.

KBOI-TV reports Grove had been in jail since Aug. 15 for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, possession of burglary tools and an invalid license.
