MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- Some people in a Wake County neighborhood are living in fear after a man accused of molesting a boy and recording it on video managed to get out of jail.

The charges against 43-year-old Shawn Walters have been piling since the first of this month as investigators keep uncovering evidence, but his bond has been lowered twice by judges

Early Wednesday morning, Walters posted bond. It was still high -- a total of $400,000. However, that was much lower than the $900,000 bond initially set in the case.

At 3:30 a.m., Walters walked out of the Wake County Detention Center a free man. Now, parents of the many children in his Morrisville neighborhood fear he may come back to the area.

He didn't answer when ABC11 knocked on his door.

Investigators claim he has already repeatedly molested one 13-year-old boy at his home over the past three months, and even recorded video of at least one of those encounters.

Many neighbors didn't want to talk on camera, but expressed concern and fear. They say Walters often had young boys in his home, and had even gained the trust of some parents.

Now some of those neighbors are questioning why judges would lower the bond for a man they believe is a predator.

"Why would they lower the bond like that? Last I knew from what I read that he was flight risk and security risk in a way," said neighbor Shawn Vervalin. "We do have a lot of children in this area, or this neighborhood. So I don't understand why that would be even considered."

The prosecutor in the case is also concerned that Walters is out of jail. She says he is a danger to the community.
