Durham Police Department takes part in sensitivity training
Sensitivity training is underway for Durham police officers. The goal is to bridge the volatile gap between the police and the community that they are sworn to protect.

DURHAM (WTVD) -- After months of scrutiny and drawing up new policies, police in the Bull City kicked off their new sensitivity training Wednesday.

ABC11 has been told the session included command leadership.

The training comes as a direct response to last summer's stinging report from the city's Human Relations Commission, which concluded that racial bias and racial profiling exists within the Durham Police Department.

ABC11's Joel Brown reports.
