The car was in a creek, where it apparently came to rest after the shooting.

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Durham Police continue to investigate a homicide that happened Monday night in the 3200 block of Rowena Avenue, near Checkerberry.

Officers responded to a sound of shots call at 10:19 p.m. When they arrived, they found a man, dead of an apparent gunshot wound, inside a crashed car.

The car was in a creek, where it apparently came to rest after the shooting.

On Tuesday, Durham police identified the victim as Jamond Lee Alston, 22, of Durham.

A follow-up investigation is underway.
