Fort Bragg paratroopers deployment to Afghanistan postponed

FORT BRAGG (WTVD) -- Fort Bragg announced Thursday that paratroopers from 3rd Battalion, 82nd Aviation Regiment, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, Task Force DUSTOFF, would deploy to Afghanistan this weekend.

About 70 troopers were scheduled to depart on Saturday in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. However, due to weather conditions, that deployment has been postponed for a few days.

Officials say the unit will provide medical support for U.S. and NATO forces. It is unclear how long they will be deployed.

Officials have not released the new deployment date.
