RALEIGH N.C. (WTVD) -- Thousands of people rushed for the exits, some hid in stores, many scared in the panic after the incident at Crabtree Valley Mall on Saturday.

According to Crabtree Valley Mall more than 10,000 people were at there at the time of the incident Saturday.

Raleigh Police told ABC11 multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the call to clear the scene.

Some Good Samaritans put their own lives at risk to help others get out the doors.

Morgan Boone said she was right next to the dancers, who were having a good time at the mall on Saturday, before a loud bang was captured on video.

Boone said she heard two loud bangs at opposite ends of the mall, and while she didn't exactly know what was going on, she automatically thought of helping others get to safety.

She said she made her way to an exit, but stayed behind to make sure children and others could make it through the doors.

"A loud bang came from that way," she said pointing behind her towards the area of the mall anchored by Belk. "Everybody got quiet, another bang and then people started running, guided as many people out the mall as I can just to make sure they were safe and things were nuts.

"I've never seen people run like that," she continued.

Another shopper returned to Crabtree Valley Mall today for the first time since the incident.

The shopper did not want to be identified by name but said she wanted to stop by the mall's security office just to say thank you, on behalf of herself and her friends, to all the law enforcement officers for their hard work in clearing the mall.

"They were like 'Oh my God,' I mean that was so fast and they got the job done," she said. "I know it took a long time, they were like . .. and I said no. They're going to make sure that everything is fine before we go back in there."
