Minor injuries reported in Wake County school bus accident

KNIGHTDALE, NC (WTVD) -- Authorities are investigating an accident involving a school bus and a private school transport SUV in Eastern Wake County Wednesday morning.

The accident happened around 9 a.m. on South Smithfield Road at Meadow Run Road in Knightdale.

Officials at the scene said two adults and three children were taken to the hospital to be checked out, but their injuries did not appear to be serious.

Investigators said it appeared the driver of the SUV ran off the side of the road, overcorrected, and ran into the path of the bus.

The driver, 21-year-old Benita Knight of Raleigh, was charged with failing to maintain lane control and driving left of center.
