Lillington police help deliver baby in Taco Bell parking lot
Officers said they found the mom in the backseat of her car

LILLINGTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- Lillington police helped out with a very special delivery early Monday morning, helping a mother deliver her baby.

Police said they found the a woman, Vianisa Lopez, in the backseat of her car in the Taco Bell parking lot on West Cornelius Harnett Boulevard. The birth was already in progress.

EMS and the officers quickly helped out. Officials say a healthy baby girl weighing six pounds and two ounces was born at 3:11 a.m. She was named Crystal Lopez.

"This isn't something that our guys do every night," said police chief Frank Powers. "It's pretty special to be part of this birth and helping Ms. Lopez in such a positive way."

The new mother and the baby were taken to the hospital where the officers visited them later that morning.
