Man accidentally shoots himself at Fayetteville gun show
FAYETTEVILLE, NC -- The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office says a man attending a gun show in Fayetteville Sunday accidentally shot himself in the leg.
According to deputies, 55-year-old Anthony McKee of Wilson was sitting in his car in the Crown Coliseum parking lot when he tried to clear a gun of a bullet in the chamber.
The gun went off, hitting McKee in the leg.
He drove himself over to the center and asked the off-duty deputies working at the door for help.
He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment. His condition is unknown.
Deputies said McKee has a permit to carry weapons concealed.
Gun shows, including the one in Fayetteville, require owners to clear their gun before entering. The show had a gun clearing station set up.
No charges have been filed.
