Man dies in Fayetteville shooting

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Police say they're investigating after a 21-year-old man with a gunshot wound died at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

According to investigators, two men in a car picked up a passenger at a convenience store on the corner of Cumberland Road and Wingate Road around 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

The passenger then tried to rob the men and shot one of them on Tolgate Road near Old Spears Road.

The driver then took the victim - later identified as Daniel Cortez Morrison, of Polo Drive - to the hospital, but he died there of his injuries.
