Police investigate a shooting in Fayetteville
Police are searching for a suspect, and they said the shooting was "not random."

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Fayetteville police are investigating a shooting that happened on Thursday afternoon.

Police said it happened around 3:45 p.m. on Tillman Court near Lakeway Drive in the Arran Lakes subdivision.

Authorities said the male victim and two passengers drove onto Tillman Court after allegedly being followed by the suspect. When the victim got out of his vehicle to ask why he was being followed, police said the suspect took out a handgun and shot the victim.

The known suspect, who police have not identified, fled in a light blue Volvo. Police said the suspect may have been joined by a white compact car.

The victim was driven to a gas station on Hope Mills Road and Cumberland Road while his passengers called 911.

The victim was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he is listed in serious condition.
