DURHAM (WTVD) -- Police shut down a main street in Durham Monday afternoon while they investigated a shooting.

It happened just before 12:30 p.m. in the 2500-block of Fayetteville Street. The road was closed between Nash Street and Burlington Avenue for several hours.

Police said shots were fired from a gray car at a man on the sidewalk.

He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police are still searching for suspects.
