Missing 9-year-old girl found in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Fayetteville police said a missing nine-year-old girl was found Saturday.

Authorities said Alyssa Ray was last seen in the 600 block of Hickory View Court Friday around 5:30 p.m.

According to police, Alyssa ran away after being disciplined. Her mom found her bedroom window open.

Alyssa reportedly walked about a block away from home to a stranger's house. Police said she told the neighbor her mom was out of town and she was afraid to sleep alone.

The woman who took her in saw the police handing out fliers Saturday. She then told authorities Alyssa was safe and in her care.
