Possible human remains found in wooded area in Cumberland County

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Authorities in Cumberland County say possible human remains were found in a wooded area over the weekend.

Sheriff's deputies were called to the 7000 block of Cedar Creek Road on Sunday afternoon after a group of hunters found what they believed to be a skeleton.

Investigators have sent the remains to the State Medical Examiner's Office for identification.
