Security guard accused of sexual assault on minor in Chapel Hill
Markus Schopfer Von Stolz is charged with sexual battery, second-degree sex offense, indecent liberties with a minor, and kidnapping.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WTVD) -- A UNC student working as a security guard in Chapel Hill is accused of sexually assaulting a minor in a retail business in the area of University Square at 140 W. Franklin Street.

Markus Schopfer Von Stolz, 29, of 600 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., was arrested Oct. 18 and charged with sexual battery, second-degree sex offense, indecent liberties with a minor, and kidnapping.

Von Stolz was employed by Universal Protection Services.

On Monday, the company released this statement: "Universal Protection Service is aware of the recent allegation of misconduct involving one of our security professionals. The officer has been suspended, pending an investigation. The allegations do not reflect the professionalism or standards of Universal, and we do not condone misconduct of any type by any of our employees. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement during the investigation."

Despite asking a judge Monday to lower his bail, Von Stolz remains in the Orange County Jail under a $300,000 bond.
