Raleigh police investigating fatal accident

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Authorities in Raleigh have identified the person who was killed in an accident that happened early Friday morning.

Just before 5 a.m., a SUV driven by 22-year-old Christian Sanchez crashed into a tree along North New Hope Road near Capital Boulevard.

Details surrounding the incident have not been released, but police confirm Sanchez was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Images from the scene showed the top of the SUV was removed and authorities covered the front of the vehicle with a white sheet.

Part of Capital Boulevard and North New Hope Road near Hollenden Drive was closed for several hours as emergency crews worked to clear the scene.
