Sexual assault awareness march held at UNC
A march in Chapel Hill shined light on sexual assault on college campuses. It's called "Walk a Mile in My Shoes."

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WTVD) -- Dozens of young men traded their usual shoes for high heels Thursday night at UNC-Chapel Hill.

The shoe swap was all part of an event called "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes."

The march helped raise awareness about sexual assault on college campuses.

Michael Catalano, the vice president of Sigma Phi fraternity, helped organize the walk, which featured men in high heels.

"Greeks, non-Greeks -- all four Greek councils are coming together," said Catalano.

The crimes are far from new, but recent allegations in the Triangle are throwing the topic back into every day conversation.

For example, N.C. State suspended one fraternity and, within a month, kicked another one off campus.

"So many people on campus are paying attention now," said Ciara Davis of Lamba Pi Chi. "We need to keep that momentum."

While guys in high heels may be a comical sight, each possibly painful step is a loud show of support in ending sexual violence on campus.
