Truck loses wheel on I-440, chaos ensues

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- I-440 near Glenwood Avenue was a mess Thursday evening when witnesses said an armored truck headed west lost a left front wheel that then rolled over a median wall and hit an oncoming east-bound car.

It happened around 6:15 p.m.

Several vehicles on the westbound side hit debris from the truck. Many had flat tires - or even two flat tires. One of the cars had debris hit its radiator and blew the radiator.

One car eastbound and six cars westbound were damaged. Police said four vehicles were so badly damaged they had to be towed.

Despite the chaos, nobody was hurt.
