McCrory accidentally calls Charlotte state capital during news conference
At the press conference announcing the Dorothea Dix property deal on Monday, Governor Pat McCrory slipped up and called Charlotte the state capital, instead of Raleigh.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- At the press conference announcing the Dorothea Dix property deal on Monday, Governor Pat McCrory slipped up and called Charlotte the state capital, instead of Raleigh.

The governor quickly corrected his mistake, but Raleigh Mayor Nancy McFarlane and other media in the room noticed the blunder immediately.

"Um... the City of Raleigh," McCrory said. "I knew I'd mess that up."

The room erupted with laughter and McCrory sat back in his seat, laughed, shook his head, and joked that in 14 years he had never made that mistake before.
