Pope Francis to celebrate Mass at Madison Square Garden Friday

NEW YORK -- Pope Francis will address the United Nations before celebrating Mass with thousands of faithful at Madison Square Garden Friday.

The pope will begin his first full day in New York day at the United Nations, where he will meet with staff and then speak before the General Assembly.

From the U.N., Pope Francis will head to the 9/11 Memorial for a multi-religious service.

Friday evening, the pope will travel by motorcade through Central Park to Madison Square Garden, where he will celebrate Mass before a crowd of thousands of worshipers.

Thursday, Pope Francis became the first pontiff in history to address a joint meeting of Congress. After leaving Washington, he traveled to New York, where he was welcomed by thousands of well-wishers.
