NEW YORK (WTVD) -- The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says many teens aren't driving vehicles that offer good crash protection and safety features.

While a new car that's on the Institute's Top Safety Pick list is not affordable for many families, IIHS says there are many safe vehicles that can be bought used.

The Institute has now put together a list of affordable used vehicles that meet important safety criteria for teen drivers ranging from less than $5,000 to nearly $20,000.
