Moneysaver: Best buys of April
If you are looking to set sail, April is a good time to find a great deal on a cruise according to the VP of Offers.com, Howard Schaffer.
"Spring break is pretty much over," Schaffer said. "April is a great time to get discounts on cruises. You can find them up to 80 percent off."
Schaffer says along with cruises, you can also save if you want to pound the pavement as the weather gets warmer.
"All of the local running stores will have great deals on last years supply," he said. "Because they want to get people into their new shoes and get them out on the road, so, a lot of times you'll find great deals on running shoes this time in April," Schaffer explained.
April also leads into a busy graduation and wedding season. Schaffer says his team finds that traditionally means you can also save big on traditional gifts including cookware for newlyweds.
"With wedding season upon us right now a lot of stores are going to put cookware on sale," he said.
As for what not to buy this month? Think seasonal.
"We recommend not buying grills and patio furniture," Schaffer said. "You might see them on sale but generally they're not going to be a great deal, so, generally wait as long as you can."
Schaeffer says deals on grills and patio furniture typically can be found in August and September.
He also points out if you are on the market for a mattresses, waiting until Memorial Day will get you the most bang for your buck.
The same goes for refrigerators. Schaeffer says while it may be tempting to update your spring wardrobe waiting until the end of the season will get you the best deals. He points out, the best apparel deals in April are on winter clothing, so, buying for next season is the best plan.
