MoneySaver: How to save with the Ibotta app
If you have a smartphone and like saving money, but don't have the time to clip coupons, a new app called ibotta may be right up your alley.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- If you have a smartphone and like saving money, but don't have the time to clip coupons, a new app called ibotta may be right up your alley.

The convenience of ibotta is why it's quickly gaining in popularity with shoppers.

Here's how it works. Once you open the app, you can browse the savings being offered on different items and brands and it works in store and online.

The ibotta app is free and you unlock the rebates by doing a simple task like taking a survey, watching a video, or playing trivia.

You then shop, click redeem, and earn money deposited into a Paypal account or you can take gift cards.

Ibotta's website states it works at over 80 retailers including Costco, Target, Babies R Us, Whole Foods, and Harris Teeter.

The day we opened the app, we found coupons for plenty of food items, milk, glassware, along with a dollar rebate for AMC and Regal Theaters as well as a rebate for $10 when you spend a hundred at Kohls.com to name a few.

There's also exclusive deals through the app to help you earn more.
