ABC11 kicks off annual Heart of Carolina Food Drive
RALEIGH (WTVD) -- ABC11 and other sponsors are asking you to help drive out hunger in our area with the Heart of Carolina Food Drive.
We kicked off the annual event Friday at Sanderson High School in Raleigh because, over the years, the school has been number one out of area schools in helping us reach our goals.
ABC11 President and General Manager Caroline Welch presented $15,000 checks to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeastern North Carolina.
It's part of our parent company Disney's effort to make donations to food banks around the country that are part of "Feeding America."
You have from November 21 to December 10 to donate dollars or food to help feed neighbors in need. This year you can also enter to win a $500 Kroger gift card (and another $500 gift card donated in your name) with our "Pay it FOODward" photo contest.
