Fame game: Stars watch Germany win

Famous faces from David Beckham and Pele to Rihanna and Mick Jagger looked on from the stands as Germany lifted the World Cup with a 1-0 extra-time victory over Argentina at the Maracana.

Mario Gotze scored the crucial goal with seven minutes of the extra period remaining, with many of the famous faces in the crowd later taking to Twitter to congratulate Joachim Low and his players.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter's official guest list was an eclectic mix, embracing everyone from actor Ashton Kutcher to former France international Olivier Dacourt, The Guardian reported.

World leaders present at the Maracana included South African president Jacob Zuma, Russia's Vladimir Putin and Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orban.
