Tennessee Titans rookie Taylor Lewan plans to settle rather than go to trial to fight three misdemeanor assault charges from last December, his lawyer said.
Lewan, a four-year starter at the University of Michigan, was charged with one count of aggravated assault and two counts of assault and battery stemming from an altercation outside of a bar in Ann Arbor last winter.
Jury selection for the trial was scheduled to begin Monday but was canceled during a settlement conference Thursday.
John Shea, Lewan's attorney, said details about the settlement will be made public at a hearing scheduled for Oct. 30.
"I can't provide any details right now," he said. "There are still moving parts."
Lewan, 23, was arrested shortly after midnight Dec. 1 after allegedly hitting two men outside of the Brown Jug, a restaurant in Ann Arbor. Hours earlier, Michigan lost to Ohio State 42-41 in Lewan's final game as a Wolverine.
Lewan said he was breaking up a fight, but the alleged victims and another witness refuted that claim.
Lewan has appeared in all seven games for the Titans this season and started two of them.
Shea said Lewan will be in Michigan when the settlement is announced next Thursday, which coincides with Tennessee's bye week.
