Car fire blocks lanes on I-40

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A car fire blocked lanes of I-40 westbound Tuesday night just south of Hillsborough.

Both lanes headed west were blocked near Old Highway 86, but traffic was getting by on the median.

At one point, smoke could be seen billowing from the vehicle.

It is not yet known if anyone was injured. We're working to find out how long lanes will be closed.
