CARY, N.C. (WTVD) -- A series of water main breaks in Cary Thursday are still impacting traffic near Cary Parkway, Kildaire Farm Road and Tryon Road.
Town of Cary officials said the first break happened when a contractor hit a water main Thursday afternoon near the intersection of Kildaire Farm Road and SW Cary Parkway.
The incident blocked southbound Kildaire Farm Road between High Meadow Drive and SW Cary Parkway and triggered several other main breaks, including one near Glasgow Road. That break has closed all lanes of Kildaire Farm Road between Cary Parkway and Tryon Road as crews work to repair the damage.
The water main near the intersection of Kildaire Farm Road and SW Cary Parkway was repaired overnight, but officials say the area will not reopen until later Friday.
Drivers should plan to use alternate routes for the morning commute.
