Heavy rains cause water rescues, road closures in Raleigh

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Heavy rains made for a busy Sunday night for many Wake County first responders.

Raleigh police said they had to tow at least three cars out of rising waters and made multiple rescues.

One driver was waist deep in water near the 1800 block of Capital Boulevard.

On Monday morning, police blocked two lanes of I-440 after a tree fell onto a brick wall near Lake Boone Trail.
