Stargazers will marvel at the Buck Full Moon Tuesday Night
The term "Buck Moon" is fitting since this is the time of year when male deer start to grow their new antlers.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Take a look up at the sky Tuesday night and you will be in for a treat. The full moon known as the "Buck Moon" will reach it's prime at 6:57p.m. EDT.

The term "Buck Moon" is fitting since this is the time of year when male deer start to grow their new antlers. According to the Farmers Almanac, the full moon has a unique name each month. Each month, the full moon has a name, and this moon is one of four that are named for animals.

Full moons occur when the Sun, the Earth and the Moon all line up. When that happens the side of the moon we see is completely lit up by sunlight, giving us a spectacular view.

If you get a spectacular view of the moon, send your photos to ABC11 using the hashtag #abc11 on social media.
