RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A cold front brought plenty of rain, wind, and some flooding in low-lying areas Wednesday morning.

The weather was blamed for a power outage at Sanderson High School on Dixon Drive in Raleigh after a tree fell on a power line. School administrators decided to cancel classes after 12:30 p.m.

Dixon Drive was closed so parents had to access Sanderson via North Hills Drive to pick up students.

On Fayetteville Road at Currin Drive in Wake County Wednesday morning, a tree blocked the roadway after toppling over. Heavy rain in Raleigh forced a section of Durham Drive off Tryon Road to be shut down after flooding in part of the area.

After the front moved through, the sun came out at times from mid-afternoon on. Temperatures started in the 70s Wednesday, then fell into the 60s before recovering back to the 70s during the afternoon.

A drier air mass moves in on Thursday, but it will not be that that much cooler than Wednesday.

Highs on Wednesday and Thursday should end up in the lower 70s. Friday and Saturday are going to be nice days with sunshine much of the time along with somewhat warmer afternoons.
