'Christmas in July' comes to Smithfield

SMITHFIELD, N.C. (WTVD) -- Christmas may be months away, but people in Smithfield were in the spirit of giving Saturday.

Double Barley Brewery had a "Christmas in July" toy drive. People could bring in a new toy in exchange for a glass of their favorite beverage.

There was also holiday music and an appearance from Santa Claus.

The Toy Drive was organized to support a local mom who's been collecting toys for Duke Children's Hospital ever since her 4-year-old daughter had a liver transplant there.

If you want to donate, there's still time. Double Barley Brewery is running the collection until 11 p.m. Saturday.
