Temperatures are rising, the earliest signs of Summer are arriving, and one of the most highly anticipated days of the year is quickly approaching at Prestonwood Country Club. The opening day of pool season is right around the corner, and Prestonwood's Aquatics Center will soon be buzzing with families who have waited to get a dose of Vitamin D and a moment of relaxation all winter long. May 16th has been marked on members' calendars for months, as they await the day the Summer fun begins.
The Aquatics Center at Prestonwood is an impressive facility that boasts three pools and a snack bar that serves made-to-order items ranging from healthy wraps to pizza and ice cream. An expansive recreation pool complete with nine-foot diving well and three-story waterslide serves as the main attraction for children and adults alike. The toddler pool affords parents with little ones a break from the hustle and bustle of the recreation pool, and the eight-lane lap pool is a fantastic addition to members' cardio routines, and it also plays host to the Prestonwood Piranhas.
The Prestonwood Piranhas Swim and Dive Teams are made up of over 150 children ages 5 - 18 who are eager to improve their skills and compete against other local teams. This outlet provides participants with the perfect opportunity to demonstrate "Piranha Pride", which includes sportsmanship, teamwork, and giving back to the community. Our Swim and Dive Teams participate in a toy drive each summer, in which they encourage members to donate and support their efforts to make a positive impact. Some of the team Piranhas are able to directly experience the impact they are making on their community as they deliver the donated toys to patients at the North Carolina Children's Hospital.
The Aquatics Center also hosts several of Prestonwood's largest and most well-attended social events each year. The Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day Celebrations are complete with poolside DJ, cookout style buffets, and games galore for members of all ages. Slide races, popsicle eating contests, and splash competitions allow members to exercise their competitive side as they battle for prizes. Laughter can be heard for miles during these events, and the evidence of excitement is exemplified through the smiles on the faces of members young and old. These holiday events are a bright spot each Summer season as families gather to socialize and enjoy beautiful weather and great company.
