WAKE COUNTY (WTVD) -- A Wake Tech Community College student and another driver were injured Thursday morning when their vehicles collided head-on along NC-50 (Benson Road) near Ten-Ten Road in Garner.

It happened just after 6:30 a.m.

According to the Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Kasem Suheil Qassem of Raleigh was going south on NC-50 in his Nissan Sentra when he traveled left of center and struck a Chevrolet pick-up truck.

Qassem was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The driver of the truck, 64-year-old David Ronald Hall of Four Oaks, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities said charges are pending a further investigation.

Traffic was backed up for over two hours due to the accident blocking the roadway.
