TO THE RESCUE: Friends at Outer Banks save pelican with fishing lure caught in wing

OUTER BANKS, N.C. (WTVD) -- Two friends at the Outer Banks became the saving grace for a pelican.

Val Newcomb and her friend Denise Karaoli came to the rescue after they found a pelican with a fishing lure caught in its wing.

With some patience and maneuvering, the friends were able to wrap a coat around the bird's beak and cut off the lure.
