Cisco lays off 225 employees in RTP

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. (WTVD) -- There are new details on the number of Cisco employees in the Triangle who are receiving pink slips.

The computer networking company said it is laying off 225 people at its facility in Research Triangle Park.

The announcement, which is part of a company-wide realignment, will cost a total of 6,000 of its 75,000 employees their jobs.

Cisco has the second largest campus in RTP with 5,000 workers.

The largest is its headquarters in Silicon Valley.
