Raleigh woman brews winning cup of coffee
RALEIGH (WTVD) -- How seriously do you take your coffee? Probably not as seriously as Jenny Bonchak of Raleigh's Slingshot Coffee.
She has just won the eastern division for the U.S. Brewers Cup with the highest score in the eastern and western divisions. She now goes on to compete for the national title.
Bonchak told us there's a science to the perfect cup that starts with sifting and measuring her grinds.

She buys her winning beans from a farmer in Panama and Durham's Counter Culture Coffee roasts it.
"You're looking for flavor development," she explained. "You want natural sweetness to be there, you're looking for a specific type of mouth feel - is this smooth? Is it silky in your mouth ... Just bringing all these together into one very balanced cup."
Bonchak takes on the competition again in April. Sadly, you can't yet buy her winning coffee, but Slingshot may one day sell in in a limited edition.
