RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Raleigh police have charged two suspects in connection with the murder of a man outside a club early Wednesday morning.

The shooting happened just before 2 a.m. outside Mambo 69 Sports Bar in the 2200 block of New Hope Church Road in North Raleigh.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found 40-year-old Luis Alexander Rodriguez suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to WakeMed Hospital, where he later died.

Ydhiam Buonkrong, 25, was charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Teleah Janae Richmond, 21, was charged with murder.

Both suspects were taken to the Wake County Detention Center.

An eyewitness told ABC11 that he was waiting outside the bar for a taxi when he saw two men and a woman outside talking normally - not fighting or arguing. The witness said one of the men then walked over to a vehicle, pulled out a gun, and shot the other man three or four times in the chest or stomach area. He then said the suspect sped off in the vehicle, almost hitting another person.

The witness went on to say Rodriguez was gasping, seemingly trying to talk, but couldn't due to his injuries. He said he called for a security guard to cover the victim's wounds, but nobody would help -- appearing to not want to get involved.

The club's owner said the bar has only been open for two months and said he believes the attack was not a random crime.

The owner also said police have looked at surveillance videos from the club, which he said he hopes will help them figure out why the shooting happened.
