Authorities investigating fatal Goldsboro shooting

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WTVD) -- Authorities in Goldsboro are investigating a shooting that killed a 65-year-old man Tuesday night.

Around 11:30 p.m., police were called to the 100 block of East Elm Street about a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found William Andrew Alston lying on the floor of a home suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

He was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Police have said robbery may have been the motive for the crime.

An investigation is still ongoing and no further information has been released at time time.
