FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Police say a man died in a shooting in the 6800 block of Winchester Street just after midnight Sunday morning.

According to investigators, the incident began when 33-year-old Joseph Jerome Smith got into a domestic dispute with his wife Donna Saturday.

Early Sunday, police said the brother of the woman, 26-year-old Don Isiah Holmes, Jr., arrived at the home and confronted Smith about the domestic dispute.

Investigators say the two argued and Holmes shot Smith. He was later declared dead at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Holmes turned himself in to the Pender County Sheriff's office on Sunday afternoon. Holmes is charged with first-degree murder.
