Deputies believe Reverend William Scott, 68, shot and killed his wife Charlotte before turning the gun on himself.

LUMBERTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Lumberton minister and his wife died in a murder suicide, according to the Robeson County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies believe Rev. William "Bill" Scott, 68, shot and killed his 64-year-old wife Charlotte before turning the gun on himself.

They were found Wednesday on the deck of their home in Lumberton.

Scott served as interim pastor at Charity Baptist Church in Hope Mills, and served as treasurer at East Lumberton Baptist Church.

He and his wife both attended East Lumberton.
