CARY, NC (WTVD) -- The holiday shopping season is officially underway. The National Retail Federation estimates more than 140 million shoppers will be out shopping this Thanksgiving weekend.

Shoppers are out in full force this Black Friday, but many either skipped a turkey dinner altogether on Thanksgiving Day - or headed for the stores right after dessert - to start the-all night shopping festivities.

"I've been here since 8:30, 9:00 this morning," said Quinn Kerse, who said he was waiting in line at Toys R Us at Crossroads in Cary for a Wii U.

Stores like Toys R Us opened at 5 p.m. Thursday and are staying open through 11 p.m. on Friday.

"Games were $5, $10, $15," said shopper Tracy Dombek.

"We got a train table, some Barbies, some other dolls," said fellow shopper Juanita Cabrera.

Shoppers like Victoria Caristo trekked all the way from Pinehurst in an RV with family to do their shopping, "We had Thanksgiving yesterday so we could come up here today and shop so we brought that so we could sleep for a little while then we'll shop again in the morning."

Best Buy also opened its doors at 5 p.m. The popular spot for electronics is staying open until 1 a.m. and will reopen at 8 a.m. Friday. Like Toys R Us, Target is also staying open through 11 p.m. Friday night. Wal-Mart is open for its regular hours, 6 a.m. to midnight.
