FT. BRAGG (WTVD) -- Popular comedian Larry the Cable Guy surprised Fort Bragg troops Wednesday morning with a visit to the Post . He came bearing jokes and good news.

The Fourth of July Celebration is back.

The comedian, along with Prilosec OTC, is co-sponsoring the 2014 fireworks celebration that was cancelled last year due to federal budget cuts. Along with support from a host of sponsors and Fort Bragg's MWR, there will be fireworks, music and free food for the public, bringing the massive celebration back to the Fayetteville area.

Larry the Cable Guy dropped in on troops Wednesday morning to tour the 82nd Airborne Division War Memorial Museum. He capped the meet-and-greet with a comedy show and lunch.

He said it's the least he can do to celebrate America's birthday and support the troops, who have sent him messages from their deployments, with signs displaying his signature catch phrase "Git-R-Done."

"It's always good to make people laugh. You know, that's why I do it. I enjoy it," the comedian said. "I get tons of texts and e-mails 'Hey Larry Man, we're over in Iraq and popped in your (comedy).' I mean that's the kind of stuff that makes it worth it."

Fort Bragg's festivities kick off Friday at 3 p.m. A full list of performances and activity schedules can be found here: www.fortbraggmwr.com/july4th/.
