Duke Blue Devils All-America safety Jeremy Cash will miss the New Era Pinstripe Bowl against Indiana after undergoing surgery on his right wrist Wednesday.

Cash, the ACC's defensive player of the year, earned unanimous first-team All-America honors after racking up 101 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, eight quarterback pressures, four pass breakups, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery despite playing with the wrist injury all season.

"We're all certainly disappointed for Jeremy, especially in the sense that he'll miss being on the field with his teammates for his final game in a Duke uniform," Duke coach David Cutcliffe said in a statement. "It's really just so unfortunate because of the type of competitor, teammate and leader he is for our program. Going forward, we must continue our preparation for Indiana, and I know our team -- and especially our defense -- will embrace the challenge."

Redshirt junior Corbin McCarthy will start in place of Cash for the Dec. 26 bowl game.

A timetable for Cash's recovery is not immediately known, leaving his status for the Senior Bowl and NFL combine up in the air. ESPN NFL draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. ranks Cash as the No. 2 safety for the 2016 draft.
