Johnathan Kevin Carter, 21, is facing murder charges. Police believe he shot and killed 16-year-old Jalani Ferril.
The shooting happened December 29 on Robeson Street.
When officer arrived on the scene, they found Ferril in the road with a bullet wound.
He died at Duke University Hospital.
