Murdered student was beginning life with husband

RALEIGH

Motorists discovered the 21-year-old's body on the side of I-540 -- just as hour before her husband, Darin Curtis, reported her missing.

The Curtis' were in their first year of marriage. They married last spring and shared a Raleigh apartment.

Days after Latrese's body was found, the Wake County Sheriff's Office continues to guard their home even though her body was not found there. Now neighbors are starting to wonder.

"There's a good amount of rumors and chatter floating around, um, so it's been pretty interesting," neighbor Matt Peach said.

At the Triangle Town Center Sears, where Latrese worked in the cashier's office, she's being remembered as a well-liked person who greeted everyone with a smile and talked about starting a family.

Her parents and siblings in Raleigh haven't spoken out since the crime. The only relative who has been heard from is her husband, Darin, and his 911 call to police. The call was made about an hour after she was found Wednesday morning.

As police continue to stake out the couple's apartment, neighbors are getting anxious for answers.

"I'd definitely like to see this brought to a close fairly soon," Peach said.

Investigators have not named any suspects and no arrests have been made. If you have any information, you're asked to call the Wake County Sheriff's Office.
